BAIS STUDENTS BAGS MOST OUTSTANDING DELEGATES AWARD 2022
A Model United Nations is a simulation of an actual United Nations conference. Particiants are tasked with solving a global issue through research, drafting, lobbying, and debate to pass a suitable resolution. Our students took on the roles of delegates and speakers, representing different countries and working with other students from diverse backgrounds to participate in discussions and reach a solution for their assigned agenda.
Participating in MUN enables students to imbibe skills that will help them thrive in the future. Leadership skills, research and writing, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, public speaking, bargaining, and negotiation are competencies they have imbibed.
In this sixth session of the Babcock Model United Nations program, our students were involved in a plenary session where they had the opportunity to listen to distinguished diplomats such as the UN Resident/Humanitarian Coordinator (a.i.) Nigeria. They welcomed them with an ambassadorial dinner showcasing other nations' cultures and histories. As delegates, they were divided into committees where they had the opportunity to discuss issues affecting the global community and provide solutions. And they were also able to observe the Women in Diplomacy session.
At the fifth session of BIMUN, one of our students won the Best Policy Paper in the UNODC Committee. As a school, we won the Best Delegation, beating other secondary schools and universities in attendance.
Also, at the sixth session (BIMUN22), our student, Emmanuel Ajani, was the recipient of Best Delegate in the Economic and Financial Committee (ECOFIN). At the same time, Eniola Olaobaju was awarded Honourable Mention, and Ewaoluwa Edun won the Best Policy Paper
